We are currently looking for an experienced, skilled chef/cook to work at our very busy café to prepare delicious meals according to our café menu.
This is a full-time - permanent position working 5 days a week (Monday, Thursday, Friday 6.15am to 2.30pm and Saturday and Sunday 6.45am to 3pm)
The ideal candidate must be able to handle a fast-paced environment including all food preparation & cleaning during and at end of shifts ready for next morning service. You must have a minimum of 1-2 years’ of cafe or similar experience.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
· Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping & peeling vegetables, etc.)
· Cook food in various utensils or grillers
· Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
· Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
· Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
· Check quality of ingredients
· Monitor stock and ensure there are no shortages of stock requirements
Requirements and skills:
· Proven experience as chef/cook
· Experience in using cutting tools, cookware and bakeware
· Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.)
· Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
· Ability to work in a team
· Very good communication skills
· Excellent physical condition and stamina
