About the Role
We are seeking a passionate Learning Assistant – Access & Inclusion to support students in our Middle and Senior Schools. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference by supporting students with diverse learning, emotional and behavioural needs, enabling them to participate confidently and successfully in their education.
Working under the direction of classroom teachers and the Access & Inclusion team, you will provide learning support to students in whole-class, small-group and one-to-one settings. You will help implement teaching and learning programs, foster student engagement and contribute to an inclusive classroom environment where every student can achieve their potential. This permanent part-time role is offered over three days per week. Applicants must be available to work Mondays and Fridays, with the remaining day to be negotiated based on operational needs and the successful candidate's availability.
Key Focus Areas
You are a compassionate, patient and collaborative professional who enjoys working with young people and believes in inclusive education. You build positive relationships, communicate effectively, and are organised, flexible and proactive.
- Support students with a range of learning, emotional and behavioural needs.
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive learning programs.
- Provide support in one-to-one, small-group and whole-class settings.
- Implement learning strategies including scaffolding, modelling, inquiry and cooperative learning.
- Assist with classroom preparation and learning resources.
- Maintain student records and documentation as directed.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, Learning Assistants and the Access & Inclusion team.
- Promote and contribute to a safe, respectful and child-safe learning environment.
- Support the wellbeing and educational success of every student.
Essential Qualifications & Requirements
- Certificate III in Educational Support (or equivalent experience/qualification).
- Experience supporting students with diverse learning needs.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing tasks.
- The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Current First Aid qualification (or willingness to obtain).
- A commitment to child safety and student wellbeing.
- A current Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People Registration (Employment) and the ability to provide a National Police Check (less than six months old).
