About the role
As a Payment Terminal Automation Engineer , you will make an impact by ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of our point-of-sale (POS) terminal solutions, terminal management platforms, and core payment switch integrations. You will be a valued member of the Quality Assurance / In-Person Payments team and work collaboratively with the broader engineering team to modernize QA practices across payment domain testing and modern automation tooling.
In this role, you will:
Execute comprehensive end-to-end testing across physical and smart Android payment terminals, validating POS purchase flows, terminal kernel behavior, and full transaction processing.
Parse and validate payment messages against ISO 8583 and AS2805 standards, including bitmapped fields, MTIs, processing codes, and terminal-to-switch/switch-to-host communications.
Design, automate, and execute REST/SOAP API test suites using Postman and Newman CLI, and build scalable automated test frameworks with Playwright for UI, admin portals, and API integrations.
Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI) to enable continuous regression testing across terminal and host release cycles.
Ensure terminal configurations and switch integrations comply with card scheme mandates (EMV Level 1/2/3, Visa/Mastercard/EFTPOS updates, PIN block and security handling), using AI-assisted tools to accelerate test design, data generation, and defect triage.

What you need to have to be considered
Hands-on QA engineering background in payments, terminal testing, POS switches, or merchant acquiring environments, with deep expertise in ISO 8583 and AS2805 message structures, bitmapped fields, MTIs, and response codes.
Expert-level knowledge of end-to-end POS transaction flows, contact/contactless EMV kernel behavior, PIN pads, and offline transaction processing (SAF).
Solid understanding of payment switch architectures, Stand-In Processing (STIP), settlement file generation, and reconciliation processing, along with card scheme compliance and EMV certification requirements (AES DUKPT, PIN block encryption).
High proficiency with Postman for automated API testing (request chaining, mock servers, Newman CLI), plus strong hands-on experience building Playwright automation for web applications, admin portals, and API validation.
Demonstrated success integrating automated test runs into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps), along with strong SQL skills and experience analyzing logs, socket traces, and terminal debug data.
These will help you stand out
Direct experience testing Smart Android POS terminals or Android-based payment applications.
Familiarity with terminal management and remote key injection systems (e.g., PAX, VHQ, Oolio, Verifone).
Experience with payment message simulators (e.g., EFTSIM, FinSim).
Experience using AI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Gemini) to boost test scripting efficiency, log analysis, and scenario design.
