About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Instrumental Music Teacher (Woodwind Specialist) to join the Australian School of the Arts (ASTA) Performance Music team at Sheldon College.
You will deliver high-quality group and individual woodwind tuition to students from Prep to Year 12, fostering a love of music while developing students' instrumental skills and confidence. You will be part of one of Australia's leading school music programs, featuring more than 30 ensembles and over 600 music lessons delivered each week.
This role includes responsibility for student safety and wellbeing, requiring compliance with the College's Child Safe Standards, policies and procedures, and all relevant legislative and duty of care obligations.
This is a part-time, fixed-term parental leave contract from August 2026 to July 2027.
Regular workdays: Tuesday (or Monday), Thursday & Friday’s.
Ability to direct and conduct ensembles on Thursday afternoons is essential.

About you
-
Bachelor’s degree in Music, Music Education or a related discipline
-
Ability to teach multiple woodwind instruments, with strong capability in clarinet, bass clarinet and alto saxophone

Experience teaching students across a range of ages and abilities in both group and individual settings

Demonstrated ability to direct and conduct ensembles
-
Strong musicianship and passion for music education

Excellent communication, organisational and time-management skills

Collaborative approach and ability to work effectively within a team environment

Ability to build positive relationships with students, families and colleagues

Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive and engaging learning environment
Child Safety and Wellbeing

Eligibility to hold a Working with Children Blue Card or equivalent

Ability to comply with and uphold the College’s Child Safety and Wellbeing policies and procedures

Completion and maintenance of mandatory Child Protection and Child Safety and Wellbeing training
