An opportunity has presented itself for a Wagon Maintainer to join our Maintenance team based in Greta NSW.
What You’ll Do
Hands-on wagon maintenance supporting safe and reliable rail operations.
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will:
- Complete locomotive provisioning and shunting activities
- Complete unit train, UTM, FX inspections, and roll-by as required
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled on-train wagon maintenance, inspections, and repairs
- Respond to breakdowns, faults, and emergency recovery work in the network
- Carry out heating, cutting and welding activities
- Conduct mechanical and electrical fault-finding and testing
- Operate mobile plant, lifting equipment and vehicles
- Fabricate and assemble components for repair or modification
- Liaise with Planners, Coordinators, Supervisors to coordinate wagon requirements
What You’ll Bring
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to fault-find, diagnose and resolve issues in a heavy maintenance environment
- A trade background in heavy industry (highly regarded), or demonstrated hands-on experience working with mechanical systems and equipment
- Proven problem-solving skills – able to think on your feet and make sound decisions under pressure
- A genuine, can-do attitude with a willingness to step in and get the job done safely and efficiently
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, reactive environment where priorities can shift daily
- Confidence working both autonomously and within a team to deliver outcomes
- Flexibility to adapt to changing workloads, priorities and operational demands
- Confidence using basic computer skills for work order management, capture job information and update maintenance records
- Current HR Class Driver’s Licence (essential) or will obtain
- Forklift (essential) or will obtain
- Rollingstock or locomotive maintenance experience (desirable)
