The Role
We're looking for a reliable and energetic Kitchen Assistant to join our team at our onsite corporate kitchen in Botany. Reporting to the Head Chef, your main focus will be building platters and salads to our premium standard, with a great eye for presentation and consistency, while supporting prep, service, and cleanliness across kitchen operations. It's a hands-on role in a daytime corporate kitchen, perfect for someone who likes structure, pace, and being part of an energetic team.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and present platters and salads to a consistently high standard, with attention to freshness, portioning, and presentation
- Assist chefs with prep, portioning, and basic cooking tasks across breakfast and lunch service
- Maintain strict food safety, hygiene, and HACCP compliance at all times
- Keep the kitchen, fridges, and service areas clean, organised, and stocked throughout the day
- Manage dishwashing, waste, and end-of-day close-down
- Receive and store deliveries, rotate stock, and flag low items
- Support the wider team during peak periods when needed
- Work efficiently under pressure during the lunch rush
About You
- Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment required (cold larder, salad, or platter experience a plus)
- An eye for presentation and pride in producing food that looks as good as it tastes
- Food Handler Basics Training in NSW obtained (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and pride in a clean, well-run kitchen
- Quick on your feet, organised, and able to follow direction in a fast-paced setting
- A team player with a positive, professional attitude
- Comfortable with early starts (7 AM to 2 PM operating hours, flexible based on business needs)
- Australian working rights essential
