About the role
The Director, Portfolio Investment and Cost Management provides critical financial oversight and advice across School Infrastructure programs and capital works projects.
The role leads strategic analysis and advice to drive efficient resource allocation outcomes and oversees budget and financial matters across the School Infrastructure portfolio.

About you
The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience managing budgets for large, complex organisations and/or infrastructure programs. You will have a proven track record providing strategic advice and analysis to support decision-making at senior levels. As a leader you will join an executive team focused on driving improved ways of working to deliver meaningful and long-lasting impact.
Candidates with formal accounting qualifications (CA/CPA) and/or prior experience managing large capital and recurrent budgets in the public sector or for large infrastructure programs will be highly regarded.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as accounting, finance, economics, engineering or construction management.
- Demonstrated extensive experience managing budgets for large complex organisations and/or infrastructure programs.
- Demonstrated experience providing strategic advice and analysis to support senior decision-making and drive positive financial and business outcomes.
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
- Hold a valid clearance to work with children (Working with Children Check).
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
As a condition of employment, successful candidates who have not previously worked for the department will be required to provide a current Working with Children Check (WWCC) Clearance number. This option would allow the WWCC to naturally expire without further communication needed with the employee. The employer obligations under the WWCC would apply for duration of the WWCC’s validity (up to 5 years).
