Southern River College (SRC) is seeking an enthusiastic, collaborative and passionate Literacy and Numeracy Support Teacher to join our dedicated and supportive team.

The Role
The successful applicant would be committed to promoting and fostering student engagement and academic improvement in a supportive environment. It would be highly regarded that the successful applicant is committed to personal and professional growth and displays high standards of professionalism. The successful applicant should embrace collaboration working within a team environment. Applicants with experience in primary settings looking to move into a secondary school are strongly encourage to consider applying for this role.
The successful applicant will ideally display the ability to provide purposeful and relevant learning experiences that cater for different student learning needs along with the ability to teach across English, Maths, Science and Humanities. Specific expertise in literacy would be advantageous.
A particular aspect of this role would involve working intensively with students in need of literacy and numeracy support in Years 7 - 9, with knowledge of Special Educational Needs Reporting to Parents is also desirable.
In this role you would support the development of innovative classroom practices and a working knowledge of Explicit Instruction would be highly advantageous.
SRC's Teaching and Learning Centre (TLC) offers a range of individual learning and personal development strategies for students who require additional assistance with their studies in Maths, English, Science and Humanities. The Centre is available for students in Years 7 to 9 by interview and testing only. Our TLC Program is an intervention program that caters to a selected group of students in need of greater support in Literacy and Numeracy through their middle years. The classes are aligned to the Western Australian Curriculum and provide students with individual learning programs based upon their particular levels of learning and engagement,
Students are supported in English, Maths, Humanities and the Sciences. Within a nurturing environment, our dedicated and experienced TLC teachers provide small group and/or one-to-one teaching. Collaboration with teachers, adjustments to assessment and support with behaviour management are just some of the methodologies in providing an education plan that aspires to encouraging the student to reach their personal best.
