We are partnering with a well-established organisation to recruit an experienced Management Accountant for a 6-month contract. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is comfortable managing complex funding arrangements, month-end processes and stakeholder reporting within a varied finance environment.
Working as part of a collaborative finance team, you will take ownership of several key government grants and contracts while supporting the broader month-end and financial reporting function.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and report on significant Queensland Government funding agreements, including tracking expenditure against objectives and ensuring accurate recognition of income.
- Partner with management, committees and senior stakeholders to review expenditure, funding requirements and financial performance.
- Manage financial reporting for multi-period contracts, including deliverables, acquittals and funding received in advance.
- Review training activity and maintain schedules for deferred income recognition.
- Prepare and post month-end journals, including:
- General and operational accruals.
- Revenue and cost accruals and reallocations.
- Fund and project recognition and accruals.
- Deferred income and income-in-advance recognition.
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations, predominantly relating to income in advance, using FloQast.
- Maintain supporting spreadsheets, ledgers and financial schedules.
- Provide oversight and support across AR invoicing, debtor reporting and clearing accounts where required.
- Review financial information relating to significant operational contracts and ensure accuracy of reporting.
Additional Exposure
Depending on experience and team requirements, the role may also assist with:
- Cash flow spreadsheet management.
- Power BI management reporting.
- Review and support of AR and bank reconciliation processes.
- ABS reporting.
- Broader review of clearing accounts and finance processes.
About You
You will be an experienced Management Accountant or Senior Accountant who is confident stepping into a contract environment and taking ownership of an established workload.
Ideally, you will bring:
- Strong month-end accounting experience, including journals, accruals, deferrals and reconciliations.
- Experience with grant, contract, project or funding accounting.
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with manual schedules and large spreadsheets.
- The ability to interpret funding agreements and accurately manage revenue recognition.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to work with operational leaders and senior management.
- A hands-on, adaptable approach and the ability to quickly understand existing processes and systems.
- Experience with Pronto, FloQast or Power BI would be advantageous but is not essential.
