We’re currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Trainee Quality Assurance Laboratory Technician to join our Quality Assurance Team in Goulburn.
This is an exciting entry-level opportunity for someone interested in quality assurance, laboratory testing, science, food manufacturing or brewing.
Working within our modern brewery and laboratory environment, you’ll play an important role in helping ensure our beer and RTD products consistently meet Tribe’s quality and safety standards.
You’ll work alongside experienced Quality Assurance and laboratory team members who will support your training and development as you build practical skills and knowledge across laboratory testing, microbiology, chemistry, quality assurance and brewing operations.
Every day is different, and you’ll have the opportunity to learn how quality assurance and laboratory testing support the production of high-quality beverages from raw materials through to finished products.
Under the guidance and training of experienced team members, your responsibilities may include:
- Collecting and preparing samples from raw materials, production processes and finished products
- Performing routine chemical and microbiological testing
- Testing beer for key quality measures including pH, gravity, alcohol, colour and bitterness
- Assisting with yeast testing, including cell counts, viability and microbiological plating
- Testing brewing and service water for microorganisms
- Assisting with environmental monitoring, including surface, air and water testing
- Performing sanitation and hygiene swabbing
- Assisting with sensory testing and taste panels
- Supporting CIP and sanitation validation testing
- Learning to safely operate laboratory equipment and measurement devices
- Assisting with calibration and routine checks of laboratory equipment
- Accurately recording laboratory results and maintaining quality records
- Identifying and reporting results that do not meet specification
- Supporting investigations into quality issues and non-conformances
- Maintaining laboratory cleanliness, organisation and stock levels
- Following laboratory procedures, GMP, HACCP and food safety requirements
- Working closely with Brewing, Packaging and Quality Assurance teams to support product quality
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has a genuine interest in quality assurance, science, laboratory work or brewing
- Has a positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Is reliable, accountable and willing to learn
- Has strong attention to detail
- Takes pride in producing accurate work
- Can follow procedures and instructions carefully
- Is comfortable working with numbers, measurements and recording information
- Has good communication skills
- Enjoys working as part of a team
- Is willing to ask questions and learn from experienced team members
- Puts safety and quality first
- Is adaptable and open to learning new skills
- Can work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Highly regarded but not essential
- Previous laboratory experience
- Previous experience in food, beverage, brewing or manufacturing
- Current or completed studies in Laboratory Skills, Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Brewing or a related field
- Experience with laboratory equipment or testing
- Knowledge of GMP, HACCP or food safety
- Previous experience with microbiological testing
- Previous quality assurance or quality control experience
