Jayleen Bridal House is a high-end bridal boutique offering beautiful, high-quality wedding gowns and a personalised experience for every bride-to-be. We are passionate about helping brides find, fit and perfect the gown they have dreamed of wearing on their wedding day.
We are currently looking for an experienced Bridal Seamstress / Dressmaker to join our friendly team in Armadale. This role is ideal for someone who has strong bridal alterations experience and is also confident working directly with brides during fittings and occasionally assisting on the boutique sales floor.
About the Role
This position involves consultations, selling, bridal alterations, dressmaking, machining, fittings, quality checking and occasional customer-facing sales support.
Our gowns include both custom-made and made-to-size bridal dresses. You will be responsible for completing alterations between bride fittings, assisting with gown adjustments, and ensuring every dress is finished to a high standard.
This role requires someone who is not only technically skilled, but also warm, professional and confident when working with brides.
Key Responsibilities Bridal Alterations & Dressmaking
You will be responsible for:
- Completing bridal alterations between fittings
- Taking in bodices and side seams
- Adjusting hems to length
- Baby-locking, double rolled hems, lace trim finishing and horsehair braid application
- Working with delicate bridal fabrics including silk, crepe, chiffon, lace, tulle and embellished fabrics
- Completing hand finishing when required
- Performing quality checks after alterations are completed
- Assisting with sample gown alterations and repairs
- Ensuring gowns are finished beautifully, accurately and on time
Bride Fittings
You may also be required to:
- Work directly with brides during fittings
- Pin and mark alterations clearly
- Note required changes accurately
- Communicate fitting requirements to the team
- Ensure brides feel comfortable, confident and supported throughout the process
Boutique & Sales Support
As part of the Jayleen Bridal House team, this role may also include occasional sales support, including:
- Welcoming brides into the boutique
- Assisting brides with trying on gowns
- Helping brides understand fit, alteration possibilities and gown structure
- Supporting the sales team during busy appointments
- Providing a professional and luxury-level customer experience
The Successful Candidate Will Have
- Minimum 2 years of sewing, dressmaking or alterations experience
- Previous experience in the bridal industry is strongly preferred
- Experience working with wedding gowns, delicate fabrics, lace and embellishments
- Confidence using industrial sewing machines and professional sewing equipment
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent time management and organisation skills
- Ability to work quickly while still maintaining a high-quality finish
- Reliability and a strong work ethic
- A positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team
- Good communication skills
- Fluent English is required, as this role involves direct communication with brides
- Confidence working in a customer-facing boutique environment
Experience With the Following Is Highly Regarded
- Bridal fittings
- Couture or high-end bridal alterations
- Hand sewing and delicate finishing
- Lace placement and beading work
- Hemming gowns with multiple layers
- Working with silk, crepe, chiffon, tulle and luxury bridal fabrics
- Sales or customer service experience in bridal, fashion or luxury retail
