The role:
Lead a team that makes a real difference when it matters most. As Home Assessing Team Leader, you'll be at the helm of our Home Assessing team, guiding skilled professionals who assess impacted properties, validate costs, and deliver high-quality scopes with precision and care. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll coach and develop your team, ensuring consistent and effective approaches across diverse assessments and end-to-end claims management. You'll drive excellence in every assessment while building a motivated, high-performing team that delivers exceptional outcomes for our customers when they need us most.
This role will require travel to Canberra and Wollongong once a month.
What you’ll be doing:
People Leadership

Lead and inspire high-performance – monitor and drive service excellence and process adherence while demonstrating company values, managing in accordance with company policies and HR frameworks (Safety, Wellness, Workplace Behaviour and Performance Improvement)

Develop and support team success – provide guidance to enhance skills and overcome challenges, regularly evaluate performance and set clear, achievable targets aligned with A&G frameworks, and handle escalated claims and complex matters
Coaching & Continuous Improvement

Coach and develop team capabilities – provide continuous coaching and constructive feedback on scoping accuracy, cost validation, compliance, project management, and assessment techniques (virtual and on-road)

Drive continuous improvement – operate within and actively enhance the Home Claims Operating Model to increase team capability and operational effectiveness
Cost Control

Drive cost control and operational improvement – implement and refine cost control strategies to deliver outcomes to plan, while identifying improvement opportunities throughout the Home Claims Value Chain aligned with business objectives
Relationship Management

Build and maintain relationships with all stakeholders, providing constructive feedback as required
Performance & Progress Reporting

Drive strategic and operational excellence – contribute to Claims performance improvement initiatives, provide input into process, system and staffing development, and track KPIs to ensure productivity and quality metrics meet internal expectations
Qualifications & Experience:

Proven ability to lead, coach, mentor and motivate a high performing team with accountability on results

Strong change-agility and exceptional time management skills
- Minimum 2 years' experience in Home Assessing or Building Industry (estimating and assessing experience essential)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report writing and negotiation
- Demonstrated experience building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Insurance experience preferred but not essential
