About the Role
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Engineering team at our Adelaide manufacturing facility. Reporting to the Engineering Supervisor, you will be responsible for designing, developing and improving manufacturing processes, production equipment and mechanical systems to support the manufacture of world-class automotive suspension products.
The successful candidate will work closely with Production, Maintenance, Quality and Engineering teams to improve safety, productivity, product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and implement mechanical systems, equipment and manufacturing processes.
- Provide engineering support to production and maintenance teams to improve plant reliability and operational efficiency.
- Investigate production issues, identify root causes and implement engineering solutions.
- Design and modify tooling, fixtures, production equipment and manufacturing layouts.
- Prepare engineering drawings, technical specifications, reports and documentation.
- Manage engineering projects from concept through to implementation.
- Analyse production data and recommend process improvements to increase productivity and reduce waste.
- Conduct equipment trials, validation activities and process capability studies.
- Ensure engineering activities comply with Australian Standards, company policies and WHS legislation.
- Liaise with suppliers, contractors and equipment manufacturers regarding new equipment and technical support.
- Support capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects, including installation and commissioning of new machinery.
- Participate in Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives.
Skills & Experience
The successful applicant will possess:
- Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) or equivalent recognised qualification.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Mechanical Engineer within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Experience with manufacturing processes, mechanical equipment and production systems.
- Strong knowledge of engineering principles, mechanical design and problem-solving techniques.
- Ability to read and prepare engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD or similar.
- Excellent analytical, communication and project management skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
- Commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement.
Desirable
- Experience within the automotive manufacturing industry.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or Continuous Improvement methodologies.
- Experience with PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment and automation.
- Project management experience.
- Understanding of quality systems including IATF 16949 and ISO 9001.
- Experience with SAP or other ERP systems.

Working Hours
Monday to Friday, 7:00 am – 3.30 pm, with reasonable overtime as required.
