Join The Salvation Army as a Casual Youth Worker and help young people build brighter futures. Working in our 24/7 residential recovery program, you'll support young people experiencing alcohol and other drug challenges by providing a safe, supportive environment and practical, person-centred care. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you'll empower young people to develop life skills, build resilience, and achieve lasting positive change.
No two shifts are the same. You'll work alongside a passionate multidisciplinary team, helping young people build confidence, develop life skills, and take positive steps towards independence and recovery.

The Salvation Army (Salvos) Youth Services encompasses a range of programs for vulnerable young people, their families, and the community. Our services have a strong focus on prevention and early intervention and enable access to safe accommodation options, Holistic case management, community outreach programs and programs that teach vital independent living skills. Our centres are safe and supportive environments creating an ideal environment for growth, where participants feel believed in, valued, listened to, and respected.
How you will make an impact

Support young people in a safe, welcoming residential environment.

Build trusted relationships and encourage positive engagement.

Deliver life skills programs, including budgeting, cooking, hygiene, healthy relationships, and independent living.

Work within a case management framework to achieve positive outcomes.

Maintain accurate client records and case notes.

Respond to incidents professionally and contribute to a safe environment.

Connect young people with community supports and services.

Transport clients safely using Salvation Army vehicles.

Work collaboratively with a dedicated and supportive team.
What you will bring
You'll be passionate about empowering young people and confident working in a dynamic residential environment. You thrive on building meaningful relationships and remain calm under pressure.
To be successful, you'll have:

Certificate IV or higher in Youth Work, Community Services, Social Work or a related qualification.

Experience supporting young people, ideally within alcohol and other drug, mental health, or community services.

Strong communication, relationship-building and crisis intervention skills.

The ability to work collaboratively while using sound judgement in challenging situations.
Essential Requirements

Current Driver Licence.

Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card).

Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
