Primary objective
Provide influence, guidance and support to the Superintendent, Centre managers and staff to ensure they adopt appropriate
workforce planning and human resource management practices across all facets of employee relations, including industrial issues
and consultation; disputes and disciplinary management; workforce planning and development; and change management. In
addition, oversee work health and safety and play a key role in championing employee well being, engagement and diversity.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Assist the Superintendent and DSIs manage their employee relations, workforce planning, recruitment and retention and
industrial relations responsibilities to minimise risk exposure and ensure compliance with statutory, industrial and award
requirements, as well as NTPS and agency policies and procedures.
2. Provide timely high quality evidence based strategic and operational advice, information, recommendations and options to
the Superintendent, DSIs and senior management team.
3. Develop, implement and deliver functional and focussed programs of work in HRM practice areas including, privacy,
complaints management, business continuity, HRM policy development, and employee lifecycle
4. Oversee, manage and monitor the Centre’s workforce development and capability building activities.
5. Oversee work health and safety and reinforce the application of best practice WHS throughout the Centre.
6. Promote engagement, wellbeing, and an inclusive culture.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience in generalist workforce / employee relations functions, including change management, industrial
consultation, performance, grievance and disciplinary management, workforce planning and development, and the provision
of high-quality HR advice and consultancy services at a senior level.
2. Demonstrated experience and contemporary knowledge of operational and strategic HR management and organisational
effectiveness.
3. Demonstrated experience building sound networks and relationships with senior management and working cross-functionally
to build workforce capability.
4. Substantial experience operating at a senior level providing targeted strategic and operational advice and recommendations
to senior managers and relevant stakeholders.
5. Previous experience and knowledge in complex HR case management matters, including experience managing and providing
advice on WHS and injury related case management, early intervention strategies and/ or return to work processes.
6. Experience in HR analytics and applying analytical and statistical analysis skills to extract insights and develop
recommendations.
7. Experience managing a high volume workload within tight deadlines across several stakeholder groups.
Desirable
1. Qualifications in a related discipline such as HRM / Employee Relations, Workforce Development, Workforce Planning, or
similar.
