THE ROLE:
The Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) is the Australian Government agency responsible for promoting Australian trade and attracting international investment.
Our client-focused Global Engagement Managers (GEMs) work with Austrade’s offshore network across 50+ markets and external partners to help Australian businesses expand internationally. In this role, you will support exporters in the energy, resources (mining equipment and services), infrastructure and green economy sectors to succeed internationally.
GEMs are trusted advisers to their clients, developing a deep understanding of their international ambitions and ensuring the services, insights and connections provided by Austrade deliver tangible value and support long-term export success.
We are seeking an individual with a successful track record working in the energy, resources, infrastructure and green economy sectors. You will bring experience building trusted relationships with businesses, managing client portfolios, and engaging and influencing diverse stakeholders. You will possess a strong understanding of the competitive strengths of Australian exporters in these sectors, the opportunities and challenges associated with international expansion, and the commercial strategies, market entry models and partnership approaches that enable businesses to succeed in global markets. You will also demonstrate strong project management capabilities, with experience leading complex initiatives, coordinating multiple stakeholders and delivering outcomes in a dynamic environment.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Work with industry and Austrade’s partners to identify, target and assess clients in the energy, resources, infrastructure and green economy sectors seeking to expand internationally;
- Provide strategic advice and drive outcomes for clients by:
o Creating action plans with clients, outlining how we will support;
o Ensuring the delivery of the plan with an integrated and consistent service;
o Establishing and maintaining global networks and relationships;
o Managing relationships with key government and industry stakeholders;
o Using partnerships to strengthen the team, maintaining and sharing sector knowledge with the team;
o Anticipating and responding to client needs and challenges, escalating where required;
o Maintaining detailed client records in our CRM system;
• Demonstrate client engagement, commercial acumen and consultative selling skills.
- Collaborate effectively with Senior GEMs, GEMs and colleagues across Austrade's domestic and international network to deliver trade outcomes and support Austrade's strategic objectives;
- Lead on sector-related projects and initiatives within the team and amongst broader Austrade networks;
- Contribute to a high-performing and collaborative team culture, sharing expertise and supporting colleagues to deliver collective outcomes;
- Represent Australia and Austrade in both corporate and government settings;
- Clearly articulate Austrade's services and value proposition to clients, partners and stakeholders.
- Understand the Government priorities and policy settings relating to the energy, resources, infrastructure and green economy sectors, providing relevant insights and advice;
- Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills; and
- Contributing to the improvement of Austrade’s digital services.
