About the Opportunity
We're seeking a qualified Licensed Electrician to join our expanding operations team. This position focuses on inspecting, testing, and maintaining electrical systems across residential rental properties to ensure they meet Australian safety regulations and compliance standards.
The role is ideal for an electrician who enjoys a mix of onsite inspections, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, compliance reporting, and working directly with customers in a field-based environment.
What You'll Be Doing
- Carry out scheduled electrical safety inspections for residential rental properties.
- Electrical Testing & Property Inspections
- Test and verify the operation of safety switches (RCDs).
- Assess switchboards, wiring systems, power outlets, lighting, switches, and circuit protection devices.
- Perform electrical testing including insulation resistance, continuity, polarity, earthing, and bonding.
- Detect electrical defects, safety risks, and installations that do not meet current standards.
- Operate calibrated electrical testing equipment to complete inspections efficiently.
Compliance Documentation
- Complete inspection reports using digital reporting systems.
- Record defects, compliance outcomes, and recommended corrective actions.
- Capture supporting photographs where required.
- Ensure inspection records are accurate, complete, and submitted within required deadlines.
Electrical Repairs
- Carry out approved electrical maintenance and minor corrective works.
- Replace faulty electrical accessories such as outlets, switches, and light fittings.
- Resolve minor defects identified during inspections where authorised.
- Identify larger repair requirements and escalate them for quotation or further works.
- Ensure every task is completed in accordance with applicable Australian Standards.
Customer Interaction
- Provide professional service while attending occupied residential properties.
- Communicate inspection outcomes clearly to tenants and property managers when appropriate.
- Maintain a courteous, respectful, and customer-focused approach at every site.
Workplace Safety
- Comply with workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
- Wear appropriate PPE and complete site risk assessments where required.
- Report hazards, incidents, or unsafe conditions promptly.
- Maintain company-issued tools, vehicles, and testing equipment in good working order.
What You'll BringEssential
- Current A-Grade Electrical Licence
- Current driver's licence
- Experience performing residential electrical installation and maintenance work
- Strong understanding of AS/NZS 3000 Wiring Rules
- Working knowledge of AS/NZS 3019 inspection requirements
- Proven fault-finding and diagnostic ability
- Ability to work autonomously while managing multiple appointments each day
- Strong written reporting and attention to detail
- Confidence using smartphones, tablets, and electronic job management systems
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
Advantageous
- Previous experience completing electrical safety inspections for rental properties
- Experience using ServiceM8 or comparable field service software
- Test & Tag qualification
- CPR certification
- First Aid certification
