CSL Seqirus is a global leader in influenza prevention and pandemic preparedness. We are seeking a Principal Automation Engineer - Platform to provide technical installation & setup, maintenance, reliability and performance of the local Core System platforms and associated interfaces at our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Tullamarine.
Description of the role
Lead ownership and administration of critical control systems, partnering with DT Infrastructure to deliver a seamless, compliant platform framework. Drive standardisation across GxP systems, covering configuration, access, alarm management, and maintenance while integrating with data and network platforms. Identify gaps, enhance standards, and support continuous improvement through system upgrades of the Windows Server administration, virtualization, and patching across platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
Administration of local control systems across development, validation, simulation, and production environments
Microsoft Server (2008/2016): clustering, failover, replication
Hyper-V virtualization (2012/2016) and domain services management
Backup, recovery, and archiving (e.g. Acronis, NetBackup)
Antivirus management (e.g. McAfee, whitelisting)
User access, account, and permission management
Patch, hotfix, and vendor KBA deployment
Database management: cleanup, synchronization, backups
System performance monitoring (uptime, reliability, lifecycle)
Firmware and alarm management
Disaster recovery and business continuity testing
CSV compliance, investigations, CAPAs, and periodic reviews
Cross-functional coordination and stakeholder engagement
Continuous improvement and system optimisation
Project coordination across lifecycle (design to startup)
Vendor management and roadmap alignment
Qualifications and Experience required:
Bachelor of Science in an Engineering or other Science discipline/Masters preferred, Computer Science, or Management Information Systems.
10+ years' experience in pharmaceutical industry including direct management experience in Manufacturing, Engineering or Execution Systems/Automation; 5 years or more working experience in Execution Systems/Automation design and support
Specific experience in process automation, MES and batch manufacturing industry standards (ISA S88 &S95).
Direct experience designing, building, deploying and supporting automation and execution systems in a regulated large-scale process-based manufacturing environment.
Experience in running site-based shop floor systems in a globally distributed footprint is highly desirable.
Demonstrated ability to influence at all organizational levels through clear, concise and impactful verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to build, mentor and grow a high performing and cohesive team.
Experience in Process Excellence methodology is desirable but not required.
