Non-student-facing strategic improvement and change leadership role.
The Education Manager – Strategic Improvement provides senior educational and strategic leadership to lead a significant program of improvement across the Social Inclusion and Vocational College department. The role is responsible for identifying and addressing complex operational and educational challenges, strengthening governance and accountability, and leading the review, redesign and implementation of sustainable business and academic processes.
Working with a high degree of autonomy and in close partnership with the Dean, departmental leaders and key stakeholders, the position will lead organisational change and influence strategic and operational decision-making to improve consistency, quality, compliance and service delivery. The role will build organisational capability and establish sustainable practices that support effective educational operations, improved outcomes and the achievement of Faculty and Institute strategic priorities.
This is a systems and processes-focused role, responsible for supporting staff through change. This role is predominantly non-student facing.
As an Education Manager you will:
Lead the strategic planning and delivery of a significant improvement program to strengthen departmental harmony, operational effectiveness, consistency, governance and service delivery across the Social Inclusion and Vocational College department, ensuring alignment with Faculty and Institute strategic priorities.

Lead the review, analysis, mapping and redesign of departmental business and academic processes, identifying complex and systemic issues and establishing streamlined, standardised and sustainable ways of working that support effective educational operations.

Lead organisational change by engaging, influencing and supporting managers and staff to successfully implement and embed new processes and practices, fostering a culture of cohesion, accountability and continuous improvement.

Strengthen governance, quality assurance and operational controls by leading the development and implementation of consistent procedures, documentation and practices that align with Institute policies, strategic objectives and relevant regulatory requirements.

Build and maintain collaborative relationships with managers, educators and professional staff, providing strategic leadership and influence to co-design practical solutions, build shared ownership and foster commitment to departmental improvement initiatives.
To be successful, you’ll have:
A relevant degree or higher qualification, or an equivalent combination of qualifications and significant demonstrated experience in organisational improvement, process redesign, change management or operational leadership within a complex organisation.

An approved course of adult teacher training accredited at Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Level 6 or above with:

studies in adult learning methodology

studies in teaching in a Vocational Education environment

studies in Applied Research
200 hours of supervised practicum

Demonstrated experience (minimum 2 years) in an education management or comparable leadership role, with the ability to provide strategic leadership, exercise sound professional judgement and lead complex improvement initiatives within a large and diverse educational organisation.

Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge and practical application of VET regulatory and compliance requirements, including ASQA, AQTF, VRQA and VCAA guidelines, funding agreements, and legal obligations, with proven ability to develop, implement, monitor, and maintain compliance documentation and quality assurance processes.

Demonstrated experience leading significant organisational improvement and change initiatives, including identifying complex or systemic issues, developing and implementing sustainable solutions, influencing stakeholders and delivering measurable organisational outcomes.
WWCC and Police Check:
Appointment to this position is dependent on obtaining an ‘employee’ Working with Children Check, and also a valid Police Check within the last 5 years.
