The Accountant is responsible for preparing, reviewing, and lodging accurate tax returns and BAS/IAS statements for individuals, partnerships, trusts, and companies. The role ensures full compliance with ATO regulations, provides tax planning advice, and supports clients with high‑quality accounting and advisory services. This position requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple client files efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and lodge individual, partnership, trust, and company tax returns
- Prepare and lodge BAS, IAS, TPAR, FBT returns, and other compliance statements
- Manage client files, maintain documentation, and ensure compliance with ATO standards
- Communicate with the ATO regarding notices, and client queries
- Assist with GST, PAYG, payroll tax, and other regulatory obligations
- Stay updated with changes in Australian taxation laws and regulations
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Strong knowledge of Australian taxation law and ATO compliance
- Experience with accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Strong client service orientation and professional presentation
Preferred Experience
- 1–2+ years in public practice accounting
- Experience preparing a wide range of tax returns
- Exposure to payroll, and BAS preparation
- Familiarity with cloud‑based accounting systems and workflow tools
Pay: $28.00 – $32.00 per hour
