Smile On Kalgoorlie is seeking an experienced and motivated Dental Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our clinical team, you will provide high-quality chairside support, assist with practice operations, and contribute to an exceptional patient experience.
About the Role
Working closely with our dentists and clinical team, you will play an integral role in ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of dental services. This position requires a high level of professionalism, organisation, and clinical knowledge, with the ability to work independently and take initiative when required.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Support
- Provide chairside assistance across a variety of dental procedures
- Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials
- Maintain infection control and sterilisation standards
- Support patient safety and comfort throughout their treatment journey
- Ensure compliance with all clinical protocols and workplace procedures
Patient Care
- Deliver exceptional customer service and patient support
- Assist with treatment explanations and post-operative instructions
- Build positive relationships with patients through clear communication and empathy
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records
Administration & Practice Operations
- Assist with appointment scheduling, reception, and billing as required
- Update patient records and treatment information accurately
- Manage clinical stock levels and coordinate ordering of supplies
- Utilise practice management software efficiently
Leadership & Team Support
- Mentor and support junior Dental Assistants
- Assist with onboarding and training of new team members
- Collaborate effectively with dentists, oral health therapists, hygienists, and administrative staff
- Contribute to process improvements and continuous practice development
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Certificate III or IV in Dental Assisting (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 2–3 years' experience as a Dental Assistant
- Strong understanding of infection prevention and sterilisation protocols
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- High attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
- Experience using dental practice management software
- A positive attitude and strong commitment to patient care
Desirable
- Current First Aid and CPR Certification
- Previous mentoring or leadership experience
