Help drive meaningful community engagement that informs Council decisions and strengthens community outcomes.
The Role
As a Community Engagement Advisor, you will play a key role in supporting the planning and delivery of effective community engagement across Council. Reporting to the Community Engagement Lead, you will assist in developing and implementing engagement activities that align with Council’s Community Engagement Policy and Strategy.
You will work closely with internal stakeholders to design and deliver engagement processes that are inclusive, accessible and meaningful. This role involves coordinating engagement activities, contributing to project planning, analysing community feedback, and ensuring best-practice engagement approaches are applied across a range of initiatives.
You will also help ensure engagement outcomes are clearly communicated to inform Council decision-making, while maintaining consistency with organisational standards and legislative requirements.
- Support the delivery of community engagement activities in line with Council’s Community Engagement Policy and Strategy
- Manage and maintain Council’s Your Say online engagement platform and support staff in its effective use
- Provide expert advice to internal stakeholders on best-practice community engagement approaches
- Design and deliver engagement activities, including workshops, information sessions, pop-ups and community events
- Build and maintain positive relationships with community members, stakeholders and local groups
- Analyse and report on engagement outcomes to support continuous improvement and informed decision-making
- Ensure community engagement communications are clear, consistent, accessible and aligned across digital and print channels
About You
You will bring a combination of relevant qualifications, experience and a strong commitment to delivering meaningful community engagement outcomes. Specifically, you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in community engagement, communications, community development or a related field, with at least 2 years’ relevant experience
- Experience developing and delivering community engagement, communication and/or project plans and activities
- Demonstrated ability to manage stakeholder expectations and provide sound advice aligned with engagement strategies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, high-quality content
- Experience collecting, analysing and reporting on data to inform engagement outcomes
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and manage competing tasks
- A collaborative approach, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Professional judgement when handling sensitive or confidential information
- High attention to detail, adaptability and a commitment to quality outcomes
- A current Class C Driver’s Licence and willingness to work outside standard hours when required
What We Offer
- Permanent full time – 70 hours per fortnight
- Salary from $94,020.07 to $108,936.36 p.a. plus 12% superannuation.
