What you'll be doing
As an Operating Assistant, you will play a critical support role within the Perioperative Department, assisting healthcare professionals to deliver safe, efficient and patient-centred care. Working under the direction of nursing and medical staff, you will help maintain a well-functioning operating suite while ensuring patients are supported with dignity, empathy and professionalism.
- Transfer, position and safely transport patients throughout the Operating Suite, Recovery and High Dependency Unit
- Support patients who may be experiencing physical, emotional or mental distress by providing compassionate, person-centred care
- Clean, maintain and prepare operating rooms, equipment and surgical instrumentation
- Assist clinical teams by preparing positioning equipment and supporting procedural workflows
- Contribute to a safe and efficient environment by operating equipment and chemicals in line with workplace safety standards

Selection Criteria:
1. Ability to demonstrate experience in patient transportation and positioning within an Operating Suite and ability to adapt to the demands of a Perioperative environment.
2. Sound knowledge of Operating Suite equipment and maintenance.
3. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Work Health and Safety and Manual handling principles and requirements.
4. Proven ability to communicate with a variety of patients, staff, and managers.
5. Demonstrated experience working in a multidisciplinary team environment.
