Introduction:
The Opportunity
Carey Baptist College is seeking a passionate Secondary Accounting and Business Teacher to join our Harrisdale Campus from 1 January 2027.
This position is available on a part-time basis between 0.6 and 1.0 FTE, with the teaching load tailored to the successful applicant's experience and strengths.
This is an exciting opportunity to help students develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to navigate an increasingly complex world. Whether it's understanding financial literacy, analysing business strategy, exploring entrepreneurship or developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills, you'll help students discover how Accounting and Business shape the world around them.
You'll join a collaborative Secondary team that is committed to educational excellence, meaningful relationships and creating engaging learning experiences that prepare students for life beyond school.
What You'll Be Doing
As our Accounting and Business Teacher, you will:
•
Deliver engaging and contemporary Accounting and Business programs that inspire curiosity and deepen understanding.
•
Create learning experiences that connect theory with practical, real-world application.
•
Develop students' financial literacy, analytical thinking, decision-making and entrepreneurial mindset.
•
Use a variety of teaching strategies to challenge, support and engage learners of all abilities.
•
Provide timely feedback that helps students grow in confidence and achieve their personal best.
•
Build positive relationships with students, encouraging them to become resilient, responsible and reflective learners.
•
Collaborate with colleagues to continually strengthen curriculum, assessment and teaching practice.
•
Contribute to the pastoral and co-curricular life of the College.
What Matters Most
Business isn't just about numbers, and Accounting isn't just about balance sheets.
These subjects help students understand how organisations make decisions, how economies function, how businesses create value, and how sound financial thinking can influence every stage of life.
We're looking for a teacher who can bring these concepts to life. Someone who can take complex ideas and make them practical, engaging and relevant. Someone who enjoys helping students develop confidence, think critically and recognise opportunities, whether that's preparing for university, entering the workforce or one day starting a business of their own.
Above all, we're looking for a teacher who understands that the greatest impact happens through relationships.
What You Will Bring
•
A committed Christian faith and a willingness to actively support the College's mission, Statement of Faith and values.
•
A recognised teaching qualification and current registration, or eligibility for registration, with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia.
•
Demonstrated ability to teach Secondary Accounting and Business.
•
Strong subject knowledge and a passion for helping students understand business, finance and economics in practical and meaningful ways.
•
A commitment to high-quality teaching, innovative learning experiences and continuous professional growth.
•
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
•
A collaborative approach and willingness to contribute to the wider life of the College.
•
A desire to help students flourish academically, personally and spiritually.
