The Last Piece is looking for a passionate and experienced Chef de Partie to join our growing kitchen team in Mulgrave.
We are a busy café and restaurant offering breakfast, lunch, dinner, functions, and catering. We take pride in producing high-quality food using fresh seasonal ingredients while maintaining exceptional service standards.
About the Role
As a Chef de Partie, you will play a key role in the day-to-day operation of the kitchen, working closely with the Head Chef to ensure every dish meets our high standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook high-quality meals in accordance with our recipes and standards.
- Manage your assigned section efficiently during service.
- Assist with food preparation for breakfast, lunch, dinner, functions, and catering.
- Maintain food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness in accordance with HACCP standards.
- Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering and stock rotation.
- Minimise food waste and ensure portion control.
- Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to deliver excellent service during busy periods.
- Assist with training and mentoring junior kitchen staff when required.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience as a Chef de Partie or an experienced Commis Chef ready to step up.
- Strong knowledge of modern Australian café and restaurant cuisine.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- A positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Passion for quality food and attention to detail.
- Availability to work weekdays, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
