Job Objective:
The Quality Assurance Manager will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining the company’s quality systems, compliance standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Tasks & duties:
Quality Management System (QMS)
- Develop, implement, and maintain the project QMS in accordance with ISO 9001 and company standards
- Ensure the QMS aligns with contract requirements, client specifications, and relevant Australian Standards
- Conduct regular reviews and updates of the QMS to reflect project scope changes
Inspection & Testing
- Prepare and manage the Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) for all civil works (earthworks, pavements, drainage, structures, etc.)
- Oversee hold points, witness points, and sign-off of completed inspections
- Coordinate and review materials testing through NATA-accredited laboratories
- Review and accept test results, NCRs, and non-conformances against acceptance criteria
Compliance & Regulatory
- Ensure works comply with NSW regulatory requirements, including RMS/TfNSW specifications, council requirements, and relevant Australian Standards
- Manage compliance with contract quality requirements and project-specific quality plans
- Liaise with the principal, client representatives, and certifiers on quality matters
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate quality records, registers, and documentation (ITPs, test certificates, hold point releases, as-builts)
- Prepare and submit regular quality reports to project management and the client
- Manage document control processes across the project
Non-Conformance & Corrective Actions
- Identify, record, and manage non-conformances through to close-out
- Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs)
- Track and report on NCR trends and systemic issues
Auditing
- Plan and conduct internal quality audits across all construction activities
- Participate in and facilitate external and client audits
- Monitor subcontractor quality performance and compliance
Subcontractor & Supplier Management
- Assess and approve subcontractors and suppliers against quality requirements
- Review and approve subcontractor ITPs and quality documentation prior to works commencing
- Monitor and report on subcontractor quality performance throughout the project
Stakeholder & Team Engagement
- Provide quality inductions and toolbox talks to site personnel
- Support and advise project teams on quality requirements and best practice
- Build a culture of quality and continuous improvement across the project
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and lessons learned
- Contribute to post-project quality reviews and knowledge sharing
Experience required: Relevant Bachelor Degree or Higher, or at least 5 years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications
Pay: $80,000.00 – $110,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person
