Alzheimer’s Queensland (AQ) is a leading not-for-profit organisation supporting older people to live well at home. We are seeking compassionate and experienced Respite Assistants to join our team at our Gordon Park Service Centre.
This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same. You will support clients in a centre-based respite setting by building genuine connections, encouraging participation and helping create meaningful, enjoyable days.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people and wants to make a positive difference in the lives of older Australians and people living with dementia.
- Provide centre-based respite support to older people and people living with dementia.
- Build respectful and trusting relationships with clients and their families.
- Encourage participation in meaningful activities that promote wellbeing and independence.
- Assist with personal care and daily living tasks as required.
- Work collaboratively with the team to maintain a safe, welcoming and engaging environment.
You will bring:
- A genuine passion for person-centred care.
- Experience supporting older people or individuals living with dementia.
- A Certificate III in Aged Care, Individual Support or a similar qualification.
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient approach.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- A current Driver’s Licence.
- Flexibility to work weekdays, weekends and varied shifts.
Candidates must be flexible and available to work across weekdays and weekends, including night shifts, for a minimum of three to four shifts per week.
Weekend-only availability will not be suitable for this role.
- $47.16 per hour, above award rates, plus superannuation and applicable penalties.
- Salary packaging of up to $15,900 tax-free.
