Position Purpose
The Occupational Therapist is responsible for delivering high-quality, evidence-based paediatric occupational therapy services to children and families under the NDIS. The role focuses on family-centred, play-based, and strengths-based practice, supporting children to develop functional skills, independence, and participation in everyday activities.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Service Delivery
- Provide occupational therapy assessments and interventions for children with developmental delay, disability, sensory processing differences, and functional challenges
- Develop and implement individualised, goal-oriented therapy programs aligned with NDIS goals
- Deliver therapy using play-based and family-centred approaches
- Provide services across clinic, home, school, and community settings as required
Assessment & Reporting
- Conduct functional assessments and standardised/non-standardised assessments
- Prepare clear, timely, and NDIS-compliant documentation including:
- Functional Capacity Assessments (FCAs)
- Progress reports
- Therapy plans and outcome summaries
- Maintain accurate clinical notes in line with organisational and NDIS requirements
Family & Stakeholder Engagement
- Work collaboratively with parents, carers, educators, and support coordinators
- Provide education, coaching, and strategies to families and caregivers
- Participate in multidisciplinary collaboration with allied health professionals
Professional Practice & Compliance
- Maintain AHPRA registration and professional standards
- Work in accordance with:
- NDIS Practice Standards
- Child safeguarding requirements
- Organisational policies and procedures
- Participate in supervision, mentoring, and professional development
- Contribute to a positive, ethical, and supportive workplace culture
Key Selection Criteria
Essential
- Tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy
- Current AHPRA registration
- Experience or strong interest in paediatric occupational therapy
- Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, the NDIS framework
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
Mandatory Compliance
- Working With Children Check (NSW)
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Current Australian driver’s licence and access to a vehicle
- Professional indemnity insurance (contractors)
Desirable
- Experience delivering play-based and family-centred interventions
- Experience working with neurodivergent children
- Knowledge of sensory integration and functional skill development
- Experience working in home, school, or community environments
