Join Team Baw Baw as the organisation’s first dedicated Community Engagement Advisor by helping to shape meaningful connections between Council and the community.
As a Community Engagement Advisor, you will design and deliver engagement activities that encourage community participation, gather valuable feedback, and support inclusive decision-making across a range of Council projects and initiatives.
We are looking for a skilled communicator with experience in stakeholder engagement, community consultation or public participation.

About the Role
Come and join our newly re-aligned Communications, Advocacy and Engagement team!
As Community Engagement Advisor, you will develop and manage community engagement strategies and initiatives to support the organisation’s objectives in line with the Council Plan, Community Engagement Policy and the Local Government Act 2020.
The Community Engagement Advisor will partner with cross-functional teams to ensure all community engagement efforts are effective, inclusive, and foster strong relationships with community stakeholders.
The role will manage Council’s online community engagement portal, Baw Baw Connect, and assist the organisation in delivering engagement activities to the wider community.
About the Successful Candidate
To be successful in this position, you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in media, journalism, public relations, community engagement or marketing.
- iAP2 accreditation and proven evidence
- Experience in developing and implementing Engagement Plans.
- Demonstrated experience in establishing and nurturing partnerships with key stakeholders, both internal and external.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in fields of community engagement or communications.
- Excellent communication, relationship building skills and sound decision making.
