About the Role
Total Cleaning Equipment Solutions is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Technician to join our technical services team.
This role is responsible for providing electrical engineering technical support, equipment diagnostics, maintenance, testing, commissioning and fault analysis across a range of cleaning commercial and industrial equipment systems.
Working within a hands-on technical environment, you will apply electrical engineering principles to inspect, test, troubleshoot and improve electrically powered equipment, including commercial cleaning machinery, control systems, motors, batteries, charging systems and associated electrical components.
The successful candidate will work closely with customers, technicians and internal teams to identify technical issues, implement solutions, improve equipment reliability and ensure safe and efficient operation of equipment.
This role involves a combination of workshop-based technical support and mobile field service at customer locations.
Key Responsibilities
The Electrical Engineering Technician will be responsible for:
- Providing electrical engineering technical support, maintenance and troubleshooting services for commercial and industrial equipment systems.
- Inspect, test, diagnose and rectify electrical faults across equipment including cleaning machines, motors, pumps, control systems, batteries, chargers and electrical components.
- Conduct fault finding and technical assessments across low voltage DC systems (12V) and mains electrical systems (240V AC).
- Analyse electrical circuits, wiring configurations and system operation to identify faults and recommend corrective actions.
- Interpret and apply electrical drawings, schematics, technical manuals and equipment documentation.
- Perform electrical testing, measurements and diagnostic assessments using appropriate testing equipment and tools.
- Assist with installation, commissioning, calibration and performance testing of electrical equipment and control systems.
- Carry out preventative maintenance programs to improve equipment reliability, operational efficiency and service life.
- Identify recurring faults and provide technical recommendations for system improvements and modifications.
- Assist with the assessment, modification and improvement of electrical systems, components and equipment functionality.
- Support the development and implementation of technical solutions to improve equipment performance and safety.
- Prepare and maintain accurate technical reports, service records, maintenance documentation and fault analysis reports.
- Provide on-site technical support and customer assistance to diagnose and resolve equipment issues.
- Collaborate with internal teams, suppliers and customers to ensure effective technical outcomes.
- Stay up to date with advances in electrical technology, equipment systems and industry practices.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with workplace health and safety requirements, technical standards and company procedures.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Certificate IV, Diploma, or Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience in electrical engineering support, equipment diagnostics, electrical maintenance, fault finding or a related technical field.
- Practical experience working with electrical systems, control circuits, motors, batteries, charging systems and electrical equipment.
- Strong understanding of electrical principles, circuits, components and diagnostic processes.
- Ability to identify, analyse and resolve electrical faults using appropriate testing methods.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics and technical documentation.
- Experience performing equipment testing, commissioning, servicing and technical assessments.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to understand the interaction between electrical and mechanical systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a structured and analytical approach.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, suppliers and internal technical teams.
- Ability to work independently in a field-based technical environment.
Desirable Experience
- Experience with commercial, industrial or mobile equipment systems.
- Experience with cleaning machinery, pumps, motors, batteries, chargers or electronic control systems.
- Experience in field service, equipment maintenance or technical support environments.
- Knowledge of electrical safety requirements and Australian technical standards.
- Experience diagnosing faults in automated or electrically controlled equipment.
