Our client, Australian Steel, is an Australian steel processing and fabrication company that supplies a wide range of steel products and services. Located in Breaside, Victoria, the business supports projects that require precision-cut steel components and reliable supply chains, serving customers with standard and custom steel solutions across various sectors.
The company is currently seeking a Systems Administrator to support and maintain their Information Technology (IT) infrastructure. This role will be responsible for ensuring the reliability of business systems, supporting production-related technology, maintaining network and server performance, and assisting staff across office and workshop operations to ensure smooth day-to-day functionality.
The offered annual salary for this full-time position is $78,000 to 82,000 plus superannuation.
Duties include:
- Administer servers, endpoints, and network systems supporting steel cutting, profiling, and administrative operations across the facility.
- Ensure smooth operation between Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems and workshop equipment used for flame cutting, wash grinding, and steel plate processing.
- Monitor Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) connectivity to ensure continuous access to production scheduling, Computer-Aided Design (CAD) files, and delivery tracking systems.
- Maintain systems that track steel stock levels, job orders, dispatch schedules, and client specifications.
- Protect sensitive engineering drawings, client contracts, and production data from cyber threats and unauthorised access.
- Assist office staff, estimators, and Production Supervisors with hardware/software issues affecting daily operations.
- Ensure production and business data are regularly backed up and recoverable in case of failure.
- Support connectivity for Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machinery interfaces, barcode scanners, printers, and production floor terminals.
- Assess IT resource usage to ensure systems scale with increased steel stock levels and production demand.
- Control permissions for staff across departments such as drafting, estimating, production, and logistics.
- Liaise with external suppliers for hardware, software, cloud services, and specialised industrial IT systems.
- Maintain technical documentation, system configurations, and IT procedures aligned with internal operational standards and audits.
Qualifications:
- Must have a relevant qualification of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
Pay: $78,000.00 – $82,000.00 per year
