Reporting to the Assistant Vice President HR, Sydney, the HR Business Partner (HRBP) will be responsible for the operational and day-to-day HR management of the Sydney studio, while assisting in the delivery of key HR projects and initiatives.
We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of Australian employment law, HR compliance, and workplace legislation, who can confidently support HR operations and employee-related matters within the studio. You will work closely with managers, employees, and the wider global HR team to ensure smooth HR processes and a positive employee experience.
Key Responsibilities
Support daily HR operations for the Sydney studio
Manage employee records, HR documentation, contracts, onboarding, offboarding, and probation processes
Support payroll inputs, leave management, employee benefits, and HR systems administration
Act as the first point of contact for employee HR queries, policies, and workplace matters
Assist with employee relations, performance management, and engagement initiatives
Ensure compliance with Australian employment legislation, Fair Work requirements, and company HR policies
Coordinate training, inductions, internal communications, and HR reporting
Prepare HR reports, trackers, and basic analytics for management review
Support visa, work rights, and compliance documentation where required
Collaborate with recruitment, operations, and global HR teams to maintain smooth people processes
Identify opportunities to improve HR administration and operational workflows
Key Skills & Requirements
5+ years of experience in an HR Generalist, or HRBP role
Strong understanding of Australian employment law and HR compliance
Excellent communication, organisation, and stakeholder management skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
High attention to detail, confidentiality, and problem-solving ability
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems
Comfortable working independently while collaborating with global teams
Proactive, approachable, and solution-oriented mindset
Experience within media, technology, VFX, animation, or creative industries is a plus
Nice to Have
Tertiary qualification in Human Resources or a related field
Knowledge of visa/work rights processes in Australia
Experience working within a global organisation
