Lead effective communications and engagement activities to ensure diverse community voices shape Council decisions.
About the role:
The Communications and Engagement Officer plays a key role in ensuring that Council delivers meaningful community engagement that includes the voices of our diverse community.
You will:
- Support teams to plan and deliver inclusive community engagement activities.
- Deliver communication campaigns across print and digital channels.
- Manage our community engagement platform Your Say Darebin.
- Coordinate engagement activities such as pop-ups and workshops.
- Support research, surveys, and reporting on community trends and demographics.
About you:
We are looking for someone with a tertiary qualification in communications, community development or a relevant field and a minimum of two years’ experience in communications, community engagement or a similar area.

Experience with or knowledge of principles of successful planning and delivering of community engagement projects.
- Experience undertaking or knowledge of communications activities, including developing key messages for campaigns and other content.
- Understanding of best practices to engage with diverse communities.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills including interpersonal communication and facilitation.
- Experience collecting, interpreting and reporting on data.
- Experience working in or knowledge of principles of successful work in a multidisciplinary team and across multiple projects.
