Safe Drive Car Rentals is one of Australia’s growing car rental companies, operating across multiple locations with a modern fleet of vehicles. We are looking for a motivated and experienced Motor Mechanic to join our team.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine servicing and maintenance on our rental fleet.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults.
- Conduct vehicle inspections and safety checks.
- Replace brakes, suspension components, tyres, batteries, and other mechanical parts.
- Ensure all repairs are completed to a high standard.
- Maintain accurate service and maintenance records.
- Assist with breakdowns and emergency repairs when required.
- Travel to the airport when required to support vehicle operations.
- Clean, inspect, and ensure vehicles are kept clean, presentable, and ready for customer bookings.
- Prepare vehicles according to booking requirements and ensure they are available on time.
- When the workload is busy, Uber may be used for transportation when required.
- Manage vehicle preparation and related operational tasks independently, as our booking and vehicle management processes are largely automated.
Requirements
- Qualified Motor Mechanic (Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent).
- Previous experience working on a range of vehicle makes and models.
- Current Australian Driver Licence.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Ability and willingness to travel to the airport and other operational locations when required.
- Ability to manage vehicle cleaning, preparation, and readiness for bookings.
Desirable
- Experience with fleet maintenance.
- Auto electrical or air-conditioning experience.
- Roadworthy inspection experience (where applicable).
- Previous experience in a car rental or similar fleet-based environment.

Role Overview
This is a hands-on position suited to someone who is reliable, organised, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently. In addition to mechanical duties, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring vehicles are cleaned, checked, maintained, and ready for customer bookings, including supporting airport operations when required.
Pay: $60,000.00 – $150,000.00 per year
