About the role
Reporting to the Hospitality and Services Manager, the Maintenance Officer is responsible for the safe, efficient and effective maintenance of buildings, equipment and grounds at Rockpool. You'll manage a preventative maintenance schedule, respond quickly to reactive requests, coordinate external contractors, and ensure full compliance with WH&S and aged care standards.
This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same, and where your work directly supports the comfort, dignity and safety of our residents every single day.

Key responsibilities include:

Manage and execute a preventative maintenance schedule across buildings, equipment and grounds

Respond promptly to reactive maintenance requests, prioritising resident safety and comfort

Troubleshoot and independently resolve minor issues; escalate complex work to specialist contractors

Coordinate and oversee external contractors for routine and specialised maintenance tasks

Conduct regular facility inspections to identify and address issues before they escalate

Maintain accurate maintenance logs, records and documentation

Ensure full compliance with WH&S requirements, infection control standards and building regulations

Identify and implement opportunities for sustainability and efficiency improvements
Skills and experience
-
Relevant trade qualification or demonstrated experience in a facility or building maintenance role

Previous experience in aged care, healthcare or residential maintenance environments

Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills across buildings, equipment and grounds

Experience scheduling maintenance, managing contractors and maintaining accurate records

Sound understanding of WH&S, infection control and safety compliance standards

Ability to use maintenance software or ticketing systems

Strong communication skills — with management, staff, contractors and residents

Relevant trade qualification or equivalent experience (essential)

White Card — General Construction Induction (desirable)

First Aid Certificate (desirable)

Chemical handling knowledge or certification (desirable)
