Baker & Café Cook
The Silva Spoon is one of the Sunshine Coast's most loved tea houses, known for elegant high teas, house-made cakes, freshly baked scones and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
We're looking for a reliable and capable Baker & Café Cook to join our small kitchen team. This is a hands-on role combining baking, light savoury preparation and support for our breakfast and high tea offerings.
This position would suit someone who enjoys working independently, takes pride in consistency and presentation, and is looking for family-friendly hours with no late nights.
About the Role
- Casual position (approximately 25-30 hours per fortnight)
- Generally 6:30am – 1:30pm shifts
- Approximately one weekend day per fortnight
- Additional hours may be available to cover annual leave and staff absences
- Award rates and penalties apply
What You'll Be Doing
- Baking cakes, cookies, cheesecakes and scones
- Decorating and finishing products to a high standard
- Preparing quiches, soups and other savoury items
- Breakfast preparation and plating
- High tea preparation and presentation
- Following established recipes, production schedules and kitchen systems
- Maintaining a clean, organised and food-safe workspace
- Working independently while contributing to a positive team environment
About You
We're looking for someone who:
- Has experience in baking, pastry, café cooking or a similar role
- Takes pride in producing consistent, high-quality food
- Has excellent attention to detail
- Is reliable, organised and self-motivated
- Enjoys working both independently and as part of a small team
- Has a positive attitude and willingness to help where needed
Formal qualifications are welcome but not essential. We are also open to experienced home bakers who can demonstrate strong baking skills and a genuine passion for quality food.
