Academic Primary School Tutor – After School Classes
Vision Academics | Sydney
Casual / Part-Time
About Vision Academics
Vision Academics is a growing tutoring centre focused on helping primary school students build the skills and strategies they actually need to succeed in school and entrance exams.
We specialise in OC and Selective School preparation, with small classes and a strong focus on teaching students how to think through questions rather than simply giving them endless worksheets and past papers.
Our classes are kept small, so tutors have the opportunity to properly get to know their students, explain concepts clearly and make a genuine difference in their learning.
We're now looking for a friendly and confident tutor to join our team and teach classes during after-school hours.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll primarily be working with primary school students in small-group classes.
Your role may include:
- Teaching Maths, English, Reading, Writing and/or Thinking Skills
- Guiding students through our prepared lesson material and booklets
- Explaining difficult questions in a simple and engaging way
- Helping students develop better problem-solving and exam strategies
- Keeping students focused while maintaining a positive classroom environment
- Providing occasional feedback on student progress
- Supporting students who may need a little extra help during class
Lesson materials and resources are provided, so you won't be expected to create an entire curriculum from scratch.
Who We're Looking For
You don't need to be an experienced teacher.
We're looking for someone who is:
- Friendly, patient and comfortable working with children
- Confident communicating and explaining ideas
- Reliable and organised
- Academically strong
- Able to make lessons engaging rather than simply reading from a worksheet
- Open to feedback and willing to learn our teaching approach
- Available for some after-school or weekend classes
Experience in tutoring, teaching or working with children is great, but not essential for the right person.
University students and recent graduates are very welcome to apply.
Korean Language Skills
Korean-speaking applicants are preferred, as this can be helpful when communicating with some students and families.
Fluency is not essential, and applicants with conversational Korean or non Korean are still encouraged to apply.
Pay may be adjusted depending on Korean proficiency and the level of communication the tutor is comfortable with.
Flexible Hours
We understand that tutors may be balancing university, work or other commitments, so we're quite flexible with scheduling.
You can choose which available classes you would like to take on and which ones you don't. There is no expectation that you need to be available every afternoon or teach a certain number of classes.
Once you take on a class, we simply ask that you can attend it consistently each week throughout the school term.
This makes the role well suited to university students or anyone looking for regular tutoring work that can fit around their existing schedule.
What We Offer
- Small class sizes
- Prepared teaching materials
- Flexible class selection and working hours
- A relaxed and supportive team environment
- Training and guidance before teaching independently
- Regular weekly classes once you choose your schedule
- Flexibility around university or other commitments
- Opportunity to take on additional classes if you would like more hours
We're a relatively young team, so the environment is friendly and collaborative. We want tutors to feel comfortable asking questions, sharing ideas and developing their own teaching skills.
How to Apply
If you enjoy working with students and think you'd be a good fit for our team, we'd love to hear from you.
Please send through your resume along with a short introduction about yourself, your availability and why you're interested in tutoring with Vision Academics.
We look forward to meeting you!
