About the team
You will join a specialised nursing and clinical team focused on ensuring safe, evidence-based transfusion practices across the organisation. Working closely with the laboratory, medical, and nursing teams, the service plays a critical role in promoting best practice, minimising risk, and improving patient outcomes in transfusion care.
About the role
As a Transfusion Nurse, you will provide clinical leadership and expertise to support the safe and appropriate use of blood and blood products in accordance with national and international guidelines. You will act as a key liaison between clinical and laboratory teams, driving best practice, education, and quality improvement initiatives across the organisation.
A regular day will see you:
Leading and promoting safe, evidence-based transfusion practices across clinical areas.
Coordinating and delivering education and competency programs for staff.
Monitoring transfusion practices through audits, data analysis, and quality improvement initiatives.
Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and participating in the Transfusion Committee.
About you
You are an experienced and confident nurse with strong clinical knowledge and a passion for improving patient safety and quality of care. You bring excellent communication skills, the ability to influence practice, and a collaborative approach to working across multidisciplinary teams.
You’ll bring with you:

Registered Nurse Division 1 with a postgraduate qualification in Nursing (or working towards).

Minimum 3 years’ post-registration experience in an acute care setting.

Clinical knowledge of transfusion practices and basic haematology.

Strong organisational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.

Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver education and training programs.

High-level written and verbal communication skills, including Microsoft Office proficiency.
Desirable:

Experience in quality improvement, audit, or research activities.

Understanding of evidence-based practice and quality/safety frameworks
-
Engagement in professional organisations or transfusion networks.
