Essendon Family Medical Clinic is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Division 1 Practice Nurse to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to patient care and a broad skill set in clinical nursing. This role involves a variety of responsibilities, including performing blood work, administering intravenous infusions, providing immunizations, developing care plans, and conducting health assessments.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Blood Work:
- Perform venipuncture and other methods of blood collection.
- Prepare and handle specimens according to protocols.
- Ensure accurate labeling and documentation of samples.
2. Intravenous Infusions:
- Administer intravenous medications and fluids.
- Monitor patients during infusions for any adverse reactions.
- Maintain and manage IV lines and equipment.
3. Immunisations:
- Administer vaccines according to national immunization schedules.
- Educate patients and families about the benefits and potential side effects of vaccines.
- Maintain accurate immunization records.
4. Care Plans:
- Develop and implement comprehensive care plans for patients with chronic conditions.
- Coordinate with GPs and other healthcare professionals to ensure cohesive care delivery.
- Monitor and review care plans regularly to ensure effectiveness and make adjustments as needed.
5. Health Assessments:
- Conduct thorough health assessments, including physical examinations and history taking.
- Identify and document patient health risks and needs.
- Provide health education and counseling based on assessment findings.
6. General Duties:
- Assist GPs with minor surgical procedures and other clinical tasks as needed.
- Manage and maintain medical equipment and supplies.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations.
Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse (Division 1) with current AHPRA registration.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a clinical setting, preferably in a general practice or family medicine environment in Australia
- Proficient in performing IV infusions, Blood Collection and administering immunizations.
- Strong skills in developing and managing patient care plans.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with medical advancements.
- Be able to perform BCG vaccinations and have done training
