ABOUT THE ROLE:
Nautilus Aviation (as part of Morris Aviation) is a proven helicopter specialist with over 25 years flying experience and has grown to become one of Australia’s premier helicopter operators. Today our network of bases spans Cairns, Port Douglas, Townsville, Darwin, Jabiru, Gove and Torres Strait (Horn Island).
Nautilus Aviation has recently expanded its operations into southern Australia with the acquisition of Heli Surveys (including Snowy Mountains Helicopters), based in Jindabyne NSW in the heart of the Snowy Mountains.
We are now seeking a Senior Base Engineer to lead the maintenance operations at the Heli Surveys home base in Jindabyne.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a suitably qualified Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (LAME) with extensive helicopter experience who is looking for a rewarding career combined with an exceptional outdoor lifestyle.
We have a full-time position available for a highly experienced LAME. There is a variety of roster types and flexibility available for negotiation. As part of the role, you may be required to undertake short duration trips to alternate bases in support of our dynamic and varied fleet (including the Heli Surveys remote bases in Lakes Entrance, Victoria and Victor Harbor, South Australia).
As the Senior Base Engineer (LAME) for Heli Surveys as part of Nautilus Aviation, you will be responsible for ensuring aircraft are maintained to the highest standards of safety and airworthiness while working closely with our Chief Engineer and Head of Airworthiness & Maintenance Control (HAAMC), based in North Queensland.
The Senior Base Engineer (LAME) will be charged with:
- Overseeing all maintenance and servicing on the fleet of AS350/H125, Bell 407, Bell 212 and Bell 412 helicopters
- Certifying for line and heavy maintenance on the fleet of AS350/H125, Bell 407, Bell 212 and Bell 412 helicopters both at home base and in remote locations when required
- Certifying for defect rectifications / rectifying breakdowns on our AS350/H125, Bell 407, Bell 212 and Bell 412 fleet both at home base and at remote locations as required
- Leading and supervising all other LAME's, AME's and Apprentices on a day to day basis in carrying out maintenance on company aircraft
- Ensuring all aircraft maintenance is certified and complied with in accordance with company procedures
- Communicating with the company Chief Engineer and Head of Airworthiness & Maintenance Control (HAAMC) and operations to ensure all stakeholders are informed of current status of all aircraft

REQUIREMENTS:
To be successful in this role as a Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, you must have:
- The right to live and work in Australia (visa sponsorship may be considered for the right candidate)
- Valid Australian Driver’s license
- CASA-recognised Aircraft Maintenance Engineer qualifications
- CASA recognised qualifications/licence : B412 and/or B212
- Experience maintaining AS350/H125 helicopters
- Experience maintaining Bell helicopters
- Leadership and management skills
- Ability to lead a team of LAME's, AME's, Apprentices and other staff
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Computer literacy with experience on aircraft computer aided maintenance systems
- Strong organisational skills
- The ability to prioritise workloads and manage competing demands
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- A proactive, self-motivated approach
- A strong commitment to a safe work environment and legal/regulatory compliance
- Positive and professional attitude
- Current ASIC and Human Factors qualifications (or ability to obtain/renew with company assistance)
Desirable:
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience in AS350/H125, Bell 407, Bell 212/412 and Robinson R44 helicopters
- Experience with other helicopters including EC130, 505, Bell 407 / 206L / 206A/B
- Experience using Computer Maintenance and Management Systems – Aerotrack MRO(Aust) and Air Maestro will be an advantage
- Forklift ticket
