Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our finance team on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing day‑to‑day financial operations, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing accurate financial reporting to support business decision‑making. This role requires strong knowledge of financial principles and familiarity with overseas markets, particularly in the context of import/export operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including ledgers, invoices, receipts, and payments
Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely processing and reconciliation
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports
Ensure compliance with Australian taxation laws, including GST, PAYG, and income tax
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, and banking institutions as required
Monitor foreign currency transactions and exchange rate fluctuations relevant to import activities
Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic planning and cost control
Assist in the preparation of BAS, IAS, and other statutory lodgements
Skills and Experience Required:
Minimum 1 year of professional experience in a financial accounting role
Sound knowledge of accounting principles and practices
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline (overseas accounting qualifications will be considered)
Familiarity with overseas markets, particularly in the context of international trade and import/export operations
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., XERO, MYOB) and Microsoft Excel
Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
Desirable Attributes:
Experience in the automotive or import/export industry
Knowledge of foreign currency accounting and international trade finance
