What you’ll do
As a key member in an innovative and collaborative team, the Merchandising Optimisation Analyst enables strategic goals by leveraging technology for space optimization. This includes partnering with various teams to enhance store efficiency and customer experience through data-driven insights creating tailored store layouts through Planogram Generator with an understanding of impact on range.
The analyst also focuses on performance analysis and continuous improvement to unlock commercial opportunities.

Drive Merchandising Strategies: Spearhead cross-functional merchandising strategies across Commercial and Customer Value, leveraging technologies like Space Planning, Planogram Generator, and Assortment Recommendation to deliver optimal range and space outcomes.

Leverage Tech for Optimisation: Govern and execute store-specific space and range planning using advanced merchandising tools (e.g., Blue Yonder suite) to maximise profitability, efficiency, and store-level execution.

Deliver Data-Driven Insights: Analyse complex category metrics, customer data, and store trading patterns using platforms like Quantium and Shopper Intelligence to provide high-impact commercial recommendations.

Solve Operational Challenges: Apply critical thinking to balance range, merchandising, and operational objectives, utilising root-cause analysis and data tools (e.g., SQL) to identify opportunities and automate reporting.

Cross-Ecosystem Collaboration: Build strong, trusted partnerships across the Woolworths Group (including Metro) by delivering compelling, data-backed narratives that unlock category growth.

Champion Continuous Improvement: Maintain a growth mindset to advance range optimisation tools, streamline processes, and enhance both customer experience and commercial performance.
What you’ll bring

A minimum of 3 years experience in relevant roles (eg: merchandising, category analyst, data & insight analyst, finance analyst, pricing analyst) - OR

Bachelor Degree in Business, Marketing, Finance or related subject or equal professional experience

Proficient understanding of Google & Microsoft systems, with intermediate excel functions (eg:pivot tables, formulas, conditional formatting)

Basic to intermediate GCP and/or SQL knowledge - advantageous
-
Knowledgeable in agency datasets (Quantium, Shopper Intelligence, Circana or equivalent datasets advantageous

Experience in SAP and Blue Yonder (JDA) Space Planning with exposure to PG - Advantageous

Understands the FMCG industry and commercial processes of Woolworths and Suppliers - beneficial, but not strictly required
