The Opportunity
As an Orthopaedic Technician, you will work as an integral member of the clinical team by supporting theatre personnel to prepare the theatre environment for the appropriate procedure.
It will involve cleaning of orthopaedic instruments and the setting up of Orthopaedic trays.
Your role will also involve, but is not limited to;
- Adhering to guidelines and maintaining the sterile field during surgery; and
- Undertaking designated cleaning tasks in accordance with documented procedures and schedule to ensure high standards of cleanliness (including personal) are maintained.
Flexibility to work across a seven-day rotating roster, including morning, afternoon and evenings is critical for this role.
About You
Liaise with Clinical Coordinator and Clinical Nurse, Orthopaedics as a resource for orthopaedic equipment and other technical equipment as requested.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will meet the following criteria:
- Certificate III in Operating Theatre Technician Practice (or equivalent) or working towards - desirable
- Recent relevant experience and understanding of issues associated with acute care / perioperative settings
- Participate as a valued team member promoting and contributing to a supportive team environment.
- Able to carry out duties within Operating Rooms environment.
- Act as a resource for all Operating Rooms staff with regard to orthopaedic surgery.
- Liaise with Clinical Coordinator Orthopaedics and Clinical Nurse Manager in the development and implementation of new policies and procedures relevant to orthopaedic surgery.
- Ensure the maintenance of excellence in the delivery of patient care, through the development and provision of orthopaedic resources.
- Basic understanding of infection control principles
- Able to carry out duties within Operating Rooms environment.
Candidates with prior experience in an Orthopaedic setting will be highly regarded.
Remuneration: On offer is base hourly rate ranging from $39.90 + superannuation based on experience level and qualifications, exclusive of penalties or allowances.
