Help protect Queensland's cultural and historical heritage while supporting the delivery of major infrastructure projects.
Transport and Main Roads is seeking a Cultural Heritage Officer to join our Darling Downs District team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a heritage professional to apply their knowledge and experience across a varied portfolio of transport and infrastructure projects. Working alongside project managers, engineers, planners, environmental specialists and external stakeholders, you'll help identify and manage cultural heritage considerations throughout the project lifecycle.
In this role, you will:
- Provide specialist advice on Indigenous and historical cultural heritage matters.
- Undertake heritage research, site inspections and field assessments.
- Support compliance with cultural heritage legislation, policies and departmental requirements.
- Contribute to cultural heritage documentation, management plans and project recommendations.
- Assist project teams to identify and manage heritage risks throughout planning, design, construction and maintenance activities.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with heritage stakeholders, community representatives and project partners.
- Contribute to the preservation and management of cultural heritage information and records.
We're looking for someone who is curious, collaborative and passionate about heritage outcomes. You may have experience in archaeology, anthropology, heritage management, history, social science, environmental planning or a related discipline and be seeking an opportunity to apply your expertise in a practical project delivery environment.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Knowledge of cultural heritage principles, practices and legislative frameworks.
- Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Experience preparing technical reports, advice or heritage documentation.
- The ability to balance heritage outcomes with project and community needs.
- A collaborative approach and willingness to work across multidisciplinary teams.
