we are seeking a reliable Kitchen Hand to support our kitchen team in Townsville. You will assist with food preparation, maintain hygiene standards, and support cooks in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
Key Duties:
- Prepare and cook basic food items such as salads, entrees’ and simple hot dishes under supervision
- Wash, peel, cut, and prepare vegetables, meat, and other ingredients for cooking
- Operate and clean kitchen equipment, including ovens, stoves and tandoor
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen benches, floors, utensils, and food storage areas
- Store and rotate stock correctly to ensure freshness and minimize waste
- Assist cooks with plating, garnishing, and food service
- Follow HACCP and workplace health and safety procedures at all times
Selection Criteria:
1. Minimum 1 year relevant work experience in a commercial kitchen
2. Certificate I in Hospitality or equivalent preferred, but relevant experience will be considered
3. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and follow instructions
4. Physically fit to stand for long periods and lift up to 15kg
5. Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
6. Availability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and public holidays
