Wallaroo is a popular coastal town known for its copper mining heritage, sandy beaches, fresh seafood, and family-friendly vibe. It's a busy stop for Peninsula tourists, locals, and highway travellers.
We are looking for a skilled and reliable Chef to join our team at Wallaroo Cafe & Restaurant. This is a full-time role with a salary between $70,000 and $80,000, depending on your experience. Sponsorship is available for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and design menus that suit roadhouse customers and control food costs.
- Estimate food and labour costs and place orders for supplies.
- Supervise food preparation and presentation to keep high standards.
- Work with Managers, Dietitians, and kitchen/service staff to solve issues.
- Demonstrate cooking techniques and guide the kitchen team.
- Prepare and cook a range of dishes to a high standard.
- Ensure hygiene, food safety, and health rules are followed.
- Manage food storage, freezing, and preservation.
- Train and coach kitchen staff.
- Keep the kitchen clean and organised for busy shifts.
What We Are Looking For
- Proven Chef experience in busy kitchens (roadhouse, café, or similar).
- Strong cooking skills, food safety knowledge, and cost control.
- Calm under pressure in fast-paced settings.
- Attention to detail for quality food and presentation.
- Team player with good communication.
- Ready for shift work including weekends and holidays.
