PointsBet is looking for an experienced compliance leader to step into a hands-on, senior leadership role overseeing our AML/CTF, Payments & Fraud across Australia and Canada.
This is a rare opportunity for an AML/CTF specialist to take on genuine governance ownership of a licensed wagering operator's compliance framework, while leading a high-performing team through a period of significant regulatory reform.
The role is accountable for the design, governance and continuous improvement of the AML/CTF Program, risk assessment and controls environment in line with the AML/CTF Act, AML/CTF Rules and AUSTRAC expectations. The position has responsibility for providing oversight and governance of PointsBet Australia's AML/CTF compliance framework, with the AML/CTF Compliance Officer (AMLCO).
Beyond AML/CTF, you'll also carry overall leadership responsibility for Payments & Fraud, ensuring these functions operate as an integrated, cohesive part of the customer protection framework - and you'll drive alignment of AML/CTF methodology and standards between PointsBet Australia and PointsBet Canada.
What You'll Own
-
AML/CTF Program Oversight - the ML/TF risk assessment, Program and supporting policies; AUSTRAC reporting obligations (SMRs, TTRs, IFTIs) either directly or via governance oversight; ECDD, PEP, sanctions screening and source of funds/wealth methodologies
- Regulatory Engagement - regulator relationships for AML/CTF matters, including AUSTRAC information requests and examinations; Board and Committee papers on AML/CTF risk and program effectiveness
- Compliance Framework & Governance - the compliance governance calendar, monitoring and testing program, and escalation point for high-risk or novel compliance matters
- Payments & Fraud - integration of transaction monitoring and fraud controls with the AML/CTF framework, and uplift of fraud detection through data, automation and AI-enabled tooling
- AU–Canada Synergies - alignment of AML/CTF methodology, risk appetite and control standards across jurisdictions
- People Leadership - coaching and developing of the compliance, Payments and Fraud and customer service leaders and teams.
What You'll Bring
-
Strong working knowledge of the AML/CTF Act, AML/CTF Rules (including the post-reform baseline) and AUSTRAC expectations, sufficient to provide credible governance and challenge to the AMLCO
- Personal AMLCO experience or eligibility for the AMLCO designation is highly regarded and may see you hold the designation directly
- CAMS or an equivalent AML/CTF professional qualification viewed favourably - more strongly weighted if you're to hold the AMLCO designation directly
- Previous Senior leadership experience in compliance, customer protection and/or payments/fraud within a regulated environment - wagering, gambling or financial services preferred. Additional leadership experience in Customer Operations will be highly regarded.
- Working knowledge of payments and fraud risk management
- Experience operating across multiple jurisdictions or entities, balancing group consistency with local regulatory nuance (Canadian AML/CTF or gaming experience an advantage)
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including Board, regulator and executive engagement
- Proven people leadership and sound commercial judgement - able to balance regulatory rigor with pragmatic, growth-supportive outcomes
- PointsBet Flex Program – Enjoy hybrid working, "Work from Anywhere" weeks and sabbatical leave, to name a few.
- PointsBet Day – Celebrate your PointsBet anniversary with a day off.
- Annual Bonus Scheme – Recognising exceptional performance, our bonus program rewards great work with additional earnings on top of competitive salary packages.
- Parental Leave – 18 weeks for Primary Carers and 4 weeks for Secondary Carers.
- Employee Assistance Program – access support whenever you need it.
- Additional Perks - Social events, gym classes, pet friendly offices, stocked kitchens, sporting event tickets, wellness programs and more!
