Thrive Services is seeking a compassionate and community-minded Family & Community Engagement Worker to join our Lithgow team in a maternity leave position through to June 2027.

About the role
Hours: Part-Time | 18 hours per week (negotiable)
Award: SCHADS 2010 Level 3
Location: Lithgow NSW
Contract: Fixed-Term Maternity Leave Position until June 2027
Due to the nature of this community-based role and current transport access challenges affecting the Blue Mountains and Lithgow region, preference will be given to applicants who live in the Lithgow area
Grounded in a community development approach, the Family & Community Engagement Worker plays a key role in strengthening connections with families and fostering trust, inclusion and belonging in the community.
You will create welcoming pathways into support by building relationships with families, schools and community organisations, assisting with intake and referrals, and supporting community engagement activities. You will also contribute to the smooth operation of the Lithgow office through administrative and program support activities.
About you
To be successful in your application, you will need:
- Demonstrated experience working directly with children, parents and families, using strengths-based, family-centred and culturally responsive approach.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Community Services, related field, or currently working towards one.
- Demonstrated understanding of community development principles and the local service system, with the ability to connect families with appropriate supports & services.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with families, community members and service providers.
- Proven ability to engage respectfully with families from diverse backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Well-developed organisational, administrative and time management skills, including confidence using Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new systems and databases.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small, supportive team.

Requirements
- Current NSW Working with Children Check number.
- Current NSW Driver’s Licence and reliable vehicle.
- National Criminal Check or will apply for one prior to commencement.
- Evidence of COVID-19 and Pertussis (Whooping Cough) vaccination.
