About the role
Household Capital Pty Ltd is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Accountant to join its Finance and Treasury team in East Melbourne.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Accountant will be responsible for financial reporting, account reconciliations, transaction processing, payroll and payment support, financial data integrity, and year-end reporting and audit requirements.
This is a full-time position requiring strong analytical capability, attention to detail and the ability to independently manage accounting responsibilities within a financial services environment.
Key responsibilities
The Accountant will:
- prepare and review monthly and quarterly trust manager reports, including supporting account reconciliations;
- process, record and reconcile term trust transactions;
- prepare and maintain general ledger reconciliations and investigate discrepancies;
- perform and support finance functions, including payment processing, accounts payable and payroll;
- assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts and internal financial reports;
- prepare financial information and supporting documentation for end-of-year financial reporting;
- coordinate and respond to external audit requirements, including preparing relevant reconciliations and supporting records;
- monitor and review portfolio financial data to ensure its accuracy, completeness and integrity;
- identify and resolve discrepancies in financial records and reporting;
- assist with cash-flow monitoring, financial analysis and treasury-related reporting;
- ensure that financial transactions and accounting records are maintained in accordance with applicable accounting standards, internal policies and regulatory requirements;
- contribute to improvements in accounting, reporting and reconciliation processes; and
- undertake other accounting, finance and treasury duties and projects reasonably assigned by the Finance Manager.
Skills and experience
Applicants must have:
- a relevant qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience;
- at least two years of relevant professional experience;
- experience in financial reporting, account reconciliations and transaction processing;
- experience with general ledger accounting and financial data analysis;
- experience supporting year-end financial reporting and audit processes;
- sound knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting requirements;
- strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
- a high level of accuracy and attention to detail;
- strong organisational and time-management skills;
- the ability to manage competing priorities and meet reporting deadlines;
- proficiency in Microsoft Excel and relevant accounting or financial management systems; and
- strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience in financial services, lending, treasury operations or trust reporting will be highly regarded.
Salary: $80,000 per annum plus superannuation.
