The Utilities Superintendent/Senior Engineer is responsible for overseeing the efficient operation and maintenance of all utility systems within the Ammonia & Urea Fertilizers Plant. This includes ensuring the continuous availability of critical utility services such as steam, water, air, electricity, cooling systems, ASU (air separation unit) and other essential services required for the production of ammonia and urea fertilizers. The position requires strong leadership, operational expertise, and a focus on safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, industrial engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Minimum of 16 years of experience in utility operations, with at least 10 years in a supervisory or managerial role in an ammonia or urea fertilizer plant, or similar chemical manufacturing facility.
- Strong knowledge of ammonia and urea plant utility systems, including steam generation, water treatment, power generation, ASU (air separation unit) and cooling systems.
- Proven leadership abilities, with experience managing and developing a diverse team.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations and industry standards and a track record of maintaining a safe working environment.
- Experience with budgeting, cost control, and financial management of utility operations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Relevant experience in similar roles, preferably in a urea manufacturing plant or a similar chemical process industry focusing on Chemical Engineering.
- Thorough knowledge of the operation of a continuous chemical process plant.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in engineering software and tools for equipment design, analysis, and modelling.
- Certifications in plant utilities, safety, or environmental management.
